Hey y'all!

Gaz told me he's interested in trying out some Dota 2, and (even though it would be quite funny to see him run around like a headless chicken ) I've agreed to help him out seeing as I play the game a fair bit. I'm posting this notice in case anyone else is up for getting into Dota 2 in a friendly, casual environment.

I'll be using the Coaching feature, allowing a coach to guide up to five people in-game without directly participating themselves (coaches can draw on the ground/map and ping parts of the player's interface).

I should be available most of the time this weekend, so keep an eye out on the TS and the Steam client for when we're in-game and you can join in on the action.

Broder played/coached me through my first AI game and then in a PvP match and helped me maintain my 100% win record

Top stuff Alex, appreciate the help as it's much better than trying to figure it out all on your own.

Still got my 100% win record intact!

Even with a change of strategy from Broder.

In all honesty it really helps learn the game when someone takes time out to coach you through a match and explains tactics etc.

Top marks to Alex for helping and making DOTA 2 more enjoyable than it probably would be solo!

Glad to help out. That said, I do expect a large box of Dumle delivered to my door as payment within the week

If there was any Dumle here, you wouldn't be getting any that's for sure

100% record went.

Don't play DOTA 2 with PUG's and VODKA involved

Well after winning 2 games today, one of which I had to play Wraith King who I had no idea how to play and kept dying messily I've come to the conclusion that the game is a rush when winning but fecking annoying when losing, especially for newer players as you have no idea what you should really do to switch things up with items etc.

I really need to learn what items I should carry (especially when upgrading stuff for core/end game) and where the hell I can get them from. Plus, learning NOT to get Mules killed or getting them to deliver stuff when your inventory is full :/

It didn't help when the Guides were broken so I couldn't even look at at Build for Wraith King when I had to play him. I only remember Broder saying he play him a lot when he was a n00b too.

There still so many commands/tactics to learn that it's actually scary. More coaching required

I can do some more coaching next weekend probably. Now you're used to hitting creeps and getting a kill here and there, so next time we can focus on some quality-of-life stuff like useful hotkeys and where stuff can be attained on the map.

Few more games under my belt and about 1/3 of the way to level 4, but still feeling very noobish.

Still holding at only one loss, but expect a kicking soon.

Need to learn from my mistakes when I can but knowing you're making them is a must which is the hard bit. Like running out of mana as Sniper and not working out why! ( I did eventually)
Trying not to die is a must too and retreating as much as possible seems to help.

All tips, even the most basic appreciated so all you non-noobs just chime in with any!

Just a short tip for your mana problems.
Never ever use your abilitys against creeps. Sniper only has 2 Abilitys that use mana ;P Ultimate only to finish somone off, and your Q (I think its Q) to give vision and slow enemies down.
