Blocked ports

I got a question, first I'll try and explain what I want to do:

I live in an apartment complex owned by an association for students (Yes it's really small, just big enough for my computer ^^).
Thing is that I do have internet, actually pretty fast but they blocked out most of the ports. I can connect to any site I want, all they blocked is lots of ports.

I can't go on Steam or Teamspeak, I even tried going online on Warcraft III or trying to connect to a Minecraft server but even that didn't work.

Now my question is if there is a way to bypass this ?
I searched online a bit and found some stuff like SOCKS which should allow me to use one of the open ports(1080 I think) to play games problem is I have no clue how any of this works and if using another port I won't lagg too much to play a game.

If anyone can provide any help I really appreciate it.

Don't bother with a free proxy as performance will be pretty rubbish.

If you can get it to work then try a VPN service, it will cost a few quid a month but should be more reliable as it can tunnel *all* your traffic over the VPN.

VPNs rely on certain ports open though as well so he might not be able to connect to them either, im no expert though, the vpns services you can subscribe to might be different than the normal Windows type VPNs that we use at work.

You can also get VPN's that tunnel over HTTPS connections which would get through but aren't best suited to games though.
