Im sure there is a thread some where on this but maybe it was in the old site. What joysticks are people using now or planning to get for Elite and Star Citizen? Im in the market for one, but dont want to spend loads? Any recommendations?

I think the X52 HOTAS as they have a profile set up for it. (In Star Citizen at least)

I have one of those. It's pretty good. The deadzone seems HUGE, and for my taste they need to swap the twist and left-right axis. By default use the twist to yaw, but in a space game yaw is more useful than roll imho.

Also, you can separate the stick and throttle by about 1.5 feet. I manage to cram it either side of my G15 keyboard.

Just to add my little bit. I have a SpeedLink Black Widow. (supported in Arena Commander) and I can not reccomend it. Very few buttons, rudder is hard to be precise (for various reasons) and the two axis of the actual stick are 'separeted' in other words, there is no deadzone except for the fact that it takes a bit more force to push it from 0 to something in either of those axis. This is bad for most games, although I found it actually good for 'hardcore sims' such as DCS World

I was thinking of the Mad Catz Cyborg fly 5. My brother has that (and Oculous Rift DK2), but there are mixed opinions on the net as far as the joystick is concerned. I just paid for the ED beta. I'm using keyboard and mouse for now until I can figure out what to go for. I can spend £50 on one if need be.

Oddly, I am playing with keyboard only now, and I am finding it fine. I will try a joystick at some point, but once I set up keys that were similar to the helicopter in Battlefield 4, then I was able to fly no problem. I think a joystick will be better for firing accurately though.
