So I was checking out my classes/vehicles (the alternative was work) and was thinking about what to get for upgrades. Any thoughts?

LA: Fully upgraded grenade bandolier, Explosive Bolts for the xbow.

Medic: Last Applicator upgrade, final grenade bandolier, max regen field.

Engi: Last repair tool upgrade, Ammo pack upgrades, AV turret.... Is the AV turret worth 1000 cert points? We need to figure out the best way to stop tanks with 2-3 people that doesn't involve fairy dust and C-4 on my light assault, because sometimes they just don't cooperate or you can't get that close. Would 3 phoenixes kill one tank?

Max: Not sure what armor to get here. Flak maybe? Or both Flak and Nano? Dual-falcon (I hate the shotgun), extended burster mags.

Flash: More wraith cloaking and a weapon.... which weapon though?

Sundy: Max deploy shield, magazine size/ammo capacity for weapons. Lately I've been wondering if deploy shield+dual bulldogs would be nice for infantry-heavy fights. Thoughts?

Valkyrie: Stealth (anti-lockon), Evasiveness chassis, and a new weapon. Any ideas which one doesn't suck?

Harasser: Halbred? Scrapper chassis, gate shield, nanite auto-repair, turbo.

i dont think i've locked up last engi-rep or last med-tool (you can have much more fun with 1k certs). i suggest trying out new weapons for valk/harr and flash (ah aaaah... Saivor of the universe!) in the training area.

LA: Fully upgraded grenade bandolier, Explosive Bolts for the xbow.
  • Light Assault: at 2h 49min played how can I comment?!

Medic: Last Applicator upgrade, final grenade bandolier, max regen field.
  • If you've got 1000 certs to burn, go final applicator upgrade However, certs can be spent on much cheaper things for greater versatility.
  • Bandolier is a yes if you're a res-'nade spammer
  • Regen field is awesome in a zerg-fest, but TBH I don't often see you deploy it. Is it worth it?

Engi: Last repair tool upgrade, Ammo pack upgrades, AV turret.... Is the AV turret worth 1000 cert points? We need to figure out the best way to stop tanks with 2-3 people that doesn't involve fairy dust and C-4 on my light assault, because sometimes they just don't cooperate or you can't get that close. Would 3 phoenixes kill one tank?
  • Same as med applicator - if you've got certs to burn then get that upgrade.
  • I bought the AV turret with SC. Wouldn't 'waste' 1000 certs unless I had them burning a hole in my pocket. It's good, but your cert return will be poor. Find a Phalanx turret or respec to HA.
  • 3 phoenixes would be pretty good. More at the end of the post...

Max: Not sure what armor to get here. Flak maybe? Or both Flak and Nano? Dual-falcon (I hate the shotgun), extended burster mags.
  • I roll flak armour as default - it helps with air/tank splash damage - and have a bit of nano repair for when I'm online solo and no friendly engis are around to heal me.
  • I only go dual burster or dual falcon. MAX shotguns suck, and dual falcon can hammer armour or 1-shot infantry.
  • Re: extended burster mags...... meh. I don't have them and tear through air regardless. If you can go through half a mag on one arm then join in the other arm 'on the off beat' you end up firing 100% of the time, i.e. always have one arm firing when the other's reloading. Get those air deterrent ribbons....

Flash: More wraith cloaking and a weapon.... which weapon though?
  • If C4 Flash is the future, then more cloaking would be awesome!
  • Shotgun or Fury (you can have the Fury, right?). Goes with the wraith cloak for inf shenanigans. Or basilisk with loads of zoom optics for a flash sniper.

Sundy: Max deploy shield, magazine size/ammo capacity for weapons. Lately I've been wondering if deploy shield+dual bulldogs would be nice for infantry-heavy fights. Thoughts?
  • Max deploy shield seems to be the 'new normal'. It's my new normal.
  • Ammo capacity always (esp the 1c ones). Never overly bothered about mag size as I think they're relatively expensive.
  • My preferred guns for the Sundie now is..... dual Basilisk *yawn*. Maybe 'boring', but if they're both manned they can take out approaching infantry and armour with ease. Also makes picking on sundies easy. Take thermal on one and maybe a zoom on the other?
  • The problem with vehicles is you can't respec after spawning. Relying on a loadout specifically for infantry-heavy fights means you're nearly defenceless if you meet enemy armour on the road later on.

Valkyrie: Stealth (anti-lockon), Evasiveness chassis, and a new weapon. Any ideas which one doesn't suck?
  • Anything to stay alive. You're an awesome pilot but the damn thing's made of eggshells!!!!
  • No idea about weapons. I'd be tempted to leave it for a while before buying as they may well do a balance pass in the not-too-distant future.

Harasser: Halbred? Scrapper chassis, gate shield, nanite auto-repair, turbo.
  • Halberd or pew-pew-jobby. Halberd if you can scout up to the top of a hill and angle down for a few steady shots (stationary) before running off and repeating elsewhere. Pew-pew for continually moving and blasting - reasonable against all targets.
  • Gate shield diffuser is a must.
  • Turbo is handy for races

Okay, you also brought up a couple of good points about teamwork which I totally agree with. I mean, I kinda agree with. Us regulars (you know who you are) have a blast doing our thing on Auraxis, and whilst I seriously think we help spearhead the leaderless NC randoms into action with our awesomeness we are often stopped by a well organised group and our lack of cohesion.

I mean, when we start to die we often trickle back in one at a time and get taken out, losing a point to (e.g.) 4 medics, a MAX and an engi. That's a self-sufficient team there, and we need to do the same when we're capping a point on our own.

Don't get me wrong, we're good at the whole MAX-engi thing, and the 'everyone be a medic and res Hammer' thing, but if we rolled as 3 medics we'd probably have the most success vs infantry. So basically, I need to roll medic sometimes. Damn!

Re: armour, I think 3 Phoenixes would probably work. Long flight + reload time, and on their own they're rubbish, but in a group we could probably take out some armour. Worth a shot (if we've all got it?). In outposts I swear by the Phalanx turrets - if you keep those up you can take care of infantry and armour until you either get a tank/air zerg descend on you, blown up with C4 or hacked out. Other than that I'd go with the basics: HA + C4 all around. I'm still not au fait with the new Sundie shield, but I think if we rocket it that might/should drop the shields, then lay C4/tank mines and detonate before they come back up? I'm also game for a Vanguard outing every now and then - I recently got the AP turret which works nicely: pew-pew on top if I can get a gunner.

Medic regain field thingy is very nice and i dont regret maxing it for a second, mine is always down but if not in a zerg i use for distraction, as players will look towards them when coming in buildings. its a damn fine thing to use and more useful than the aoe heal (which i used to love)

As for engi, i cant speak for others but the AV turret isnt really worth it, i have one but rarely use it, often get sniped very easy or taken out by tanks once you him em. but maxing the engi tool is a must imo, maxed tool can disarm mines and heal a ton faster than lower ranks. speaking of tools, the medics is a must to max (more so than engi). if you play a medic much, a max tool will save you alot of time the rez speed and full health of rezzed players can make a big diff in smaler fights...

my burster max i aimed for extended mags on guns and Ammo Storage Container, which gives a fair bit of ammo (which im always running out of XD), however i do swap the ammo storage for Charge which can be useful to avoid air...

i think most will have fave way of doing things ... for you just max grenades, C4 and find a massive knife ...rest is just a bonus XD

I agree AV-turret is mosly a way of saying "here I am, shoot me" vs tanks, its ok vs low flying air and lighter armor but mostly suck.

About the engi-tool to disarm mines... could be done but i rather just shoot them and
repairtimer could'nt be that different a couple of secs dont matter that much most times.
Mabey if your reping maxes, but with enough certs, sure take it but i wouldn't (and havn't yet).

Hmm, good points. Weapons are fun.

...

Medic:
Bandolier: I spam res nades, but mostly to get certs for other things.
Regen field: See above. I just bought it last week so I haven't used it that much yet.

Max: I guess I'll go with flak armor first, then maybe repair.  Another falcon sounds pretty good.

Flash: Flash C4 is fun, so I guess I'll stick with that.  Fury is common pool so it might be a good choice.

Sundy basilisk: I like it too. I can't remember if I have thermal or not, but it's certainly a place to save certs. I was thinking about the dual bulldogs for tech plants and other places where you can get your sundy into a base. At 200 nanites/sundy, it's not that hard to buy a new one. I use more C4 than sundies.

Valkyrie: I'll stick with evasiveness and stealth (to stay alive). The "flying cert pinata" is a favorite target of HAs so maybe it'll help. Good point on the weapon.

Harasser: I'll probably make this my last priority. As much as I love running over people, you guys already have pimped out harassers.

-----

Re teamwork, I've also noticed this. If we make it in alive we're golden, die and we tend to rez one-at-a-time to die glorious, but fast and ultimately useless, deaths. If we waited and used TS to all go in at once it'd be pretty easy I think.  Triple medic, or Heavy->medic->medic would be good. Or max->engi->medic.

Redeploy->spawn beacon->kill sundy would probably be more efficient than charging solo at them and hoping they don't repair, too.  I don't have a phoenix yet, which is why I was wondering about it. I never play heavy...

My usual armor-killing method is obviously just LA->C4. I was thinking about those times when their tanks are a long ways off, but shelling us constantly and preventing our sundys from leaving. Since we're all on TS we can just pick a tank and hit it at the same time... if we coordinate. But what would work best there? Phoenixes? Crows? Ravens? Falcons? Pigeons? Profiteroles?

ATM i alternate dumbfire rocket and the "lock on everything" NS-variant depending on the train.
but yeah i think we got pretty good result yesterday when we were a bunch on TS. it was good fun.
