Was thinking about returning to the game and was just wondering what state the guild is in, or if anyone is still playing?

Indeed, we merged with Hakuna Matata (HM), a guild that originally played WoW but added a branch for WildStar on the side.

However, last week the WoW branch decided that they don't like having two separate guilds under the same site because people don't get to know each other that well unless they play both games. Thus HM was faced with a problem about either getting a site somehow or merging with another guild (woo, merges!).

The current choice that has been discussed is a "merge" with The Voidrunners, with whom we've been playing on Lightspire since August. By "merge" I mean each and every one interested applying separately, if they are sure they'd be interested to join the guild judging by their recruitment post on the official forums. Fenwin will then interview each applicant and those approved, most likely all, will be invited throughout the course of a week or two to avoid a sudden surge of new people in the guild.

HM is still discussing it and most likely we'll wait a short while to finish the remaining trial periods until the first people start applying.

The benefit of "merging" HM and Voidrunners is that Voidrunners currently has around 20 active members and there are people interested in raiding. In that way raiding would then be a possiblity in the future, what with the ~13 people coming from HM.

So.. that's the current situation, shortly put. You can PM me for more info if you want.

P.S. I've still got Amaranth as the leader of WEIRD and the guardian of its guild bank. Oh, the shiny piles of AMPs everywhere!

Alright thanks for the info, so the merge with voidrunners is the likely scenario then?

Fenwin heard I had given slightly outdated info about their member count. Instead of the ~20, which it said on the recruitment post, they've currently got around 38 active members.

Thought I'd write a little update.

The Voidrunners started giving raiding in the Genetic Archives a go about 7 or so weeks ago. We've since went there once each week and it's fun as hell. I have to say, though, that I only started going there on the third week so missed the first two week's wipes at the base pop.

We're usually between 12-16 people strong in our attempts and we've been able to regularly kill the first raid boss since the fourth week. Usually, when we're around 15+ members strong, we'll manage to kill all three minibosses and the first raid boss on the first floor. We managed to get a first feel at the second boss once but that was at the very end of the raid.

The first boss, the Experiment X-89 (video from beta):

Last weekend we did a new record for ourselves by beating the first boss with 12 people while completing the skywalker challenge, which requires you to have a certain amount of tiles left at the end of the fight (we've earlier managed to do the challenge with 14-15 people). This means you either have to risk your life jumping off the edge of the platform, drop the small bombs in air (thus negating them), and jumping back; or beating the boss with pure DPS fast enough. For us it's been mostly about saving the tiles since we're still in dungeon blues/purples.

From what I've experienced thus far the raiding in WildStar is awesome. The raid fights are so far mostly a matter of getting the mechanics and learning to avoid them. It's great that it's not all just gear checks but the skills of each and every one of the group members also matter. Also, I've missed being the bomb for such a long time .
