Sorry all but I'm currently getting a lot of issues within LOTRO, I reformatted the H/D last night and re-installed new drivers, etc but I'm still getting the same issue, the monitor goes to sleep ands the game crashes.

I look in the event logs and there is this event:

ID: 4101

Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

Not sure when I will be able to get this sorted, as it is looking like a GPU issue, unless anyone has any bright ideas of what else to try?

I think the HotFix of this week might have broken stuff even more...

For me the LOTRO client is very unstable at the moment.
Ever since U15:
  • I can't play in full screen anymore without weird graphic issues.
  • DirectX settings have to be lowered to DX9 or the game will flicker and start an alt-tabbing loop endlessly until it crashes
  • Even with all these compromises, the game often suddenly out of nowhere shuts down to the desktop, showing no error whatsoever, sometimes this happens after 20 minutes, sometimes after 2 hours and sometimes I can be lucky and don't crash at all

So I would suggest to not change to much in your own PC, perhaps check if you've got all the latest Graphic Drivers but other than that I'd just take the time and play another game, unfortunately..

Without trying lots of stuff there's no way to know.

Before you do anything else, definitely try other games and make sure this isn't a LOTRO issue.

Some random suggestions, in order:

- Use older graphics drivers. This fixes most problems.

- Move the video card to a different slot, and change the power supply plug.

- Change power settings in NVIDIA Control Panel>Manage 3D settings>power management mode. Try "Prefer maximum performance".

- Download and use MSI Afterburner (here: http://event.msi.com/vga/ ... burner/download.htm) and lower both the "Core Clock" and "Memory Clock" options by around 100 (so they say -100). Apply and close.

- If you have a multimeter, you can try measuring your power supply. It could be flaky (PSUs die regularly) and cause problems with your video card.

Thank you for the advice, at the moment I do not have any other games installed so not sure if it is just LOTRO or not. I did check out the video post in the other topic I started and have reduced the Core Clock within MSI Afterburner by 100 and the game has been stable for over an hour on DX9 settings, not tried DX11 as yet.

Hopefully this has resolve the issues, until the next patch.

Reducing the core clock is something that shouldn't be needed imo.. though it's nice it helps to stabilize the game. I'd install another game when you have time to see how that goes with the graphic settings you are used to. That way you can rule out your GPU and blame Turbine for their fuckup

I have to second that. You don't want to drop system performance just so one program runs. Find the root cause!

Thank you, I have been playing Shadow of Mordor for a bit this afternoon without any problems. Currently installing Elite: Dangerous, which I forgot that I had pre-ordered. Will see how that goes.
