Star Date 182015-1

A change in the system is beginning to be felt, an increases in violence is on the rise. As I was piloting my old trusty hauler on a routine trip from the Cleve Hub to Ackerman Market  in the Evavate System for my daily deliverers of  marine equipment, I was suddenly pulled out of super cruse by some form of advance interdiction hardware. It only took two seconds for this would be pirate to trap me in his game of cat and mouse. The moment I dropped out of cruse I immediately restarted my drive unites to escape the wrath of my pursuer. Things happen so fast, that I was unable to get off a ship scan to see who I had the privileged of dying too.  I was unfortunate to not elude this vile vicious man, for a mere ten seconds later my shields had failed, my drives were off line and the hull was breached then all went black.....

Sixteen hours later I had found myself in the infirmary of the Cleve Hub, my escape pod had saved my life..

End Transmission..............................................

Lucky that you made it out alive. So there is some risk in trading after all.

So I'm flying a mildly well specced Viper in Alliance space, trying to get my Alioth permit (I know, I know...) I'm a reasonable shot, and can maneuver pretty well, but I've still never gone up against a CMDR, it's not for want of trying, but I've been mainly PVE. I bought a FSD interdictor recently, partly as I've never tried one, and partly as I wanted to mix up my play style a bit. I'm looping around in supercruise in the 78 Ursa Majoris system, eying up contacts on the radar, when I happen across a wanted Sidewinder.

Here's where it gets interesting- he's in a wing of 3. I've bounty hunted at RES's and Nav Beacons for ages now, and always been able to competently handle any threat- Pythons, Vultures, Anaconda's, so I figure a small time crook in a beginner's ship shouldn't be a problem, and his mates are probably flying similarly spec ships. I circle around and lock on the FSD Interdictor. I've never done this before, but I've seen others do it, and it's not long before I pull him out of SC. I get the usual NPC spiel over the COMMS, then a warning that he's deployed hardpoints. I lock on, and circle around to find his mates before committing to an attack. There they are: a Viper and an Eagle, both with additional bounties. I spin up my pulse lasers, and let off a salvo at the Sidewinder.

"Hull integrity compromised" the ship voice intones. I glance at the instruments- I'm out of shields and down to 30% hull in a matter of seconds- his Viper escort is carrying a fearsome payload. Meanwhile, I've barely scratched the Sidewinder. "Screw this", I mutter, boost straight through their formation and hit the FSD. A hail of multi-cannon gunfire and: "Thrusters Disabled" reads a notification on the HUD. I'm down to single digit integrity now, and panicking and swearing profusely.

I recall that there's a reboot and repair function- I have no idea where it is, and I've never used it, but I'm out of options, and the pirate wing is gaining on me. Scrolling through the menus like a madman, I happen upon it, and hammer the button to initiate the procedure. The ship goes completely dark, and the enemy fire stops completely. It appears that a hidden bonus of the reboot is that you drop off the radar to NPC's; they can't get a read on you at all.

The seconds tick by agonisingly, until the mechanical voice states "Systems online". I jam the FSD key for all it's worth, all power to engines and systems, and spam the boost key before they can get a lock.

It works; I hit supercruise with moments to spare, but I'm not out of the woods yet- I'm down to literally 0% hull. If I get interdicted or smack into anything, even while docking, I'm toast. I find the closest station- Rominger Dock, set my heading for it, and pray.

I drop out of supercruise around 8km from the station, and immediately request docking. "Let there be a pad free", I plead. "Docking request granted" comes the reply, and I exhale with relief. Now just to dock without dinging anything or anyone. I gently navigate through the mailslot, my finger firmly away from the boost key, and look for my pad. Of course, it's one of the irritating ones right inside the front of the station, where I have to circle round to it, in an already crowded space. Gently, I maneuver the ship to above the pad, and then just use the downward thrusters to drop me on the pad. I'm not sure I've ever been so relieved to hear "Docking Successful".

By the light of a passing glue factory, I could see he was only wearing one boot...

There I was in my trusty Eagle, with 30 minutes to spare when I deceide to jump into an anarchy system a couple jumps from Bunda to look for some small time trouble. Maybe I can find some enjoyment in picking a brawl with a viper or a cobra, but the scanner shows nothing close to the star. I deceide to cruise further out to one of the closest outpost when a strong signal source peaks my interest. I drop out of supercruise and I see nothing except a few cargocanisters with gold, beeing leftover from a heist. Now gold is usually not the stuff left over in space so I double check my scanners while I close in on the scene . Maybe I find the unlucky pilot and can offer some aid. No cargo space on my eagle so I couldn't pick up the gold if I wanted to. While I close in I deceide that this looks more and more like an ambush and low and behold 3 contacts drop on me. Now 3 to 1 is usually even odds if you are a natural stick and rudder guy but closer scruitiny of the scanner showed 3 anacondas. Needeless to say with Anacondas not beeing the best choice for an interceptor, I waved goodbye and got out with only a few potshots gracing my shields. I went on and dropped on a few unsuspected pirates who thought an eagle would be an easy picking and on my way back I saw another strong signal. just for the fun of it I dropped out again. Same picture, A couple of gold canisters, so I went close just to spring the trap but this time 6 contacs appeared on my scanner. Now 6 to 1 is not really fair odds, at least in my book. I'm sure Ciger will disagree. In any case my deliberations about engageing in some fancy flying were cut short by the fact that this particular nasty bunch of pirates actually got clever. They did bring not only supperior numbers, they even swaped ships. All 6 of them came in vultures, so I the end I did beat a hasty retreat and barely made it out with my shields failing but the armor holding at 84%. So lesson learned today was never insult 7 people if all you are packing is a sixshooter.

so lugh is a pvp mecca it seems. pass for now. need to get my vulture back first. python might not be the ship of choice for this.

PS: did anyone try to land a ship with flightz assist off? Tried it and I succeeded on my first attempt but I needed full 8 minuted to get my eagle docked. Astronauts have to work with this shit all the time. no wonder it takes hours to dock at the iss

python is fine, but the rebuy cost not so much. it really does not hurt so much rebuying a vulture. and yeah lugh and the whole lave area are pretty much the pvp arenas of ED.

lol tried fa off and gave up. never ever landed a ship, just dont have the patience to do so.

so got kicked from mobius, some sore ass players reported me for breaking rules. apparently you have to almost send a PM to another player that you intend to engage him in combat....
still lots of fun while it lasted, sent commander mobius the vid as proof of pure self defense. best part is i wanted to leave out pvp and just do some pve, guess you cant

uh..., what exactly did you expect? It's a PVE ONLY group specifically founded to keep dumb asses out that think PVP is the greatest and believe everyone should roll over and let them fullfill their private pirate fantasy live. They even tell you so before you join. So nothing to complain about, move along....

yeah i know, that is what i was expecting, but in reality all CZs are pvp areas even in mobius. i was reported for coming back and not doing the choose your side thing, but rather guns blazing for revenge had a chat with mobius and now i am back in that group, so anytime i dont feel like pvp i join in.
