After dying a few times over the last few days trying to gear up I thought I would share a few tips for dealing with the new hyper/hypo-thermia that is in the game now.

  • Eat, Eat, Eat! Getting to Healthy status is even more important now as without it if you get cold you can easily die.
  • Waterproof's are now one of the best items in the game.
  • TTSKO clothing is *NOT* waterproof!
  • Gorka clothing *IS* waterproof (I think this applies to all types but I'm not 100%).
  • If you spawn as a freshpawn in and it's raining then prepare to die unless you can find an axe for wood, a pickaxe to get rocks and some matches to light a fire (unless you get really lucky and find loads of clothing/food and drink).
  • If your clothes are wet you can (sometimes), wring them out (this might only work if you get wet in a lake rather than from rain).
  • Sunshine can warm you up.
  • If you get hyperthermia then the quickest cure is to run into a pond/lake, taking off clothes or climbing a hill can also help (higher altitudes are colder).

So far I've had more luck gearing up successfully from the NE area than from the new southern Kamy/Electro spawns although Gaz was able to get geared up from Cherno by heading to pavlovo and then Zeleno).

There is a new massive town north of Gzvodno that has quite a few good loot buildings (if you are on the North railway it is easy to spot), plus there is a new military base near myshkino (south of pushtoska), but I dont know if it spawns loot yet or not.

Yep, eating and drinking until your LIme Green Energized/Hydrated is a must to survive Hyperthemia.

I was Freezing and starting to die, but scoffed as much food/water as I could and kept dry for as long as possible & managed to resist the Reaper.
Luckily the server reset/crashed and the sun came out which helped a shit tonne

Uhhm 1 thing, it is easier to make a fire.
I remember in .48 that you only need the fire kit (Rags with stick) and fire wood and some matches, the rocks aren't needed (Might have changed again in .49, will try and test it out).
I am pretty sad now TTSKO is kinda useless.

Yeah, I thought it was possible too as thats what I had but couldn't get the matches to give me the option to light the fire so assumed it was because I was missing the rocks from the kit.

Made a fire without the rocks with Pete tonight and his cold status dissapeared after a minute.
I also found a medical Thermometer and took our temperature before and after we cuddled around the fire but our temperature didn't change, I think it might be bugged.
I also found out that yellow raincoats are the most important thing for a freshspawn

Did you insert it in the correct hole?
